What should I expect in my first session?
Your first therapy session is an important step toward improving your mental health and well-being. Here’s what you can expect:
A Warm Welcome: I strive to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and concerns.
Getting to Know You: We’ll start by discussing what brings you to therapy, your background, and any specific challenges you’re facing. This helps me understand your unique situation and goals.
Exploring Your Needs: I’ll ask questions about your mental health, relationships, daily life, and any previous experiences with therapy. If you’re a parent bringing a teenager, we’ll also discuss your child’s needs and how best to support them.
Setting Goals: Together, we’ll identify what you hope to achieve through therapy—whether it’s managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, or supporting your teenager’s well-being.
Explaining the Process: I’ll outline how therapy works, what approaches I use, and answer any questions you may have about confidentiality, session structure, or online therapy options.
Next Steps: We’ll discuss a plan for future sessions, including frequency and format (in-person or online), and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.
Remember: The first session is about building trust and understanding. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with, and you’re welcome to ask any questions at any time.
Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes. The total number of sessions you may need depends on several factors, including your individual goals, the nature of the challenges you’re facing, and your personal progress throughout the process.
Some people find that a few sessions are enough to address a specific issue, while others benefit from ongoing support over a longer period. During our initial meetings, we’ll discuss your needs and expectations, and together we’ll develop a plan that works best for you. We’ll also review your progress regularly to ensure you’re getting the most out of your therapy experience.
If you have any questions about session length or the therapy process, please feel free to ask.

My standard fee for each session is €120. However, I understand that financial circumstances can vary, and I am committed to making therapy accessible. If you are struggling to cover the cost of sessions for any reason, please let me know—I can make exceptions and offer reduced rates in certain situations.
As a chartered psychologist, I am able to work with insurance companies. Many insurance providers offer partial or full reimbursement for sessions with a chartered psychologist. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage and any requirements they may have. If you need any documentation or assistance with insurance claims, I am happy to help.
